At the AGM 0n 20 October, it was agreed that the annual subscription for members will be increased from £40 to £60 per session* from January, 2022. There have been significant rising costs, in particular, the hire charge for The Gates Hall where, due to increased choir membership, we now rehearse compared to the charge for The Wellington Room. Concerts rarely covers their own costs and hire of the Church is quite high. Additionally, costs which include insurance, the website hosting, advertising, hire of the orchestra and salaries for the Conductor and Accompanist add to the costs of running a modern choir. It should be noted that grants are applied for and income received and that the choir fundraises to help support income generation.
The new subscription charge means that members will pay only £3.75 for an evening’s professional tuition and an enjoyable time with friends. Still quite a bargain!
*To make it easier for members payment can be made anually, termly or half-termly. Should any member feel that their circumstances cannot support this increase, special arrangements to help with the cost can be arranged discreetly with the Chair, Pat Mennie.
